You’re not strangers if you like the same band I’m preparing to say goodbye to a dear friend tonight. That friend’s name is “Weekender”. Weekender is an indie music night here in Melbourne that has been running, in various venues, for about 20 years. What I, and so many others, love about Weekender is that it’s always about the music, having a laugh and of course, dancing. You could turn up in your PJ’s and no one would bat an eyelid, the night is less about appearances and more about fun.

Indie music became a significant part of my life from about 18-years-old, I suddenly discovered a whole world of music that resonated with me. So significant, that I have made life-long friends through the love of the same music, and from nights out at Weekender.

So with a slight sniff and a tear in the eye, my dancing buddies and I are bidding farewell to our dear friend Weekender tonight.

I’ve tried to choose one song to share that describes Weekender, but there isn’t one. So I’m sharing two; Entertain Me by Blur to say thank you for entertaining us and the Arctic Monkey’s I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor because we always think we do!

But we will never stop dancing!

383? I think that was the name/address. It was a ball! Keep dancing Suse, even if it’s around home. X
